A postage stamp on Shri Sureshchandra Shukla ‘Sharad Alok’ released last month by the Department of Post, Government of India, being presented to H.E. Shri Debraj Pradhan, Ambassador of India to Norway.
Sureshchandra Shukla, who has been promoting Hindi and Indian culture for the last 37 years in Norway, has been editing 'Sharad Alok' from Hindi magazine 'Introduction' (1980 to 1985) and Spiel-Mirror since 1988.
In Ludhiana, India last month, the postal stamp was issued by the Indian postal department on 'Sharad Alok', in which he presented some tickets to Indian Ambassador on UN Day.
Ambassador of India and Norwegian Defense Ministry congratulated writer Sureshchandra Shukla and pronounced him as the “Cultural Bridge” between the two countries.
Earlier this year Sureshchandra Shukla 'Sharad Alok' was honored by the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh Government with 'Uttar Pradesh Pravasi Ratna' and on September 14, 'Seth Govind Das Samman' was given by the Vice Chancellor of Rani Durgavati University, Jabalpur, India.
Prior to this, many awards have been honored in Norway and India, in which his book Ganga Se Gomaa Tak has been given Bhavani Prasad Mishra Award, Nirmalimiram Verma Award for language has been given by Madhya Pradesh Sahitya Akademi. Uttar Pradesh Hindi Institute has given 'Hindi Foreign Praise Award' and 'Jagdish Gupta Kavya Bhushan Samman, Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir's Kalhan Smruti Ratna Sammelan etc.
The Norwegian Writer Union and Town Beare, Oslo have honoured him with the Culture Award.
In 2001, Delhi Hindi Academy also honored him.
On this occasion, the author said that Hindi is the identity of our culture in foreign countries, which serves us in integration and connecting two generations and two countries.
